News: World premiere of Fisherman’s Friends: The Musical to open Autumn 2021

It was announced last week that the world premiere of Fisherman’s Friends: The Musical will take place at Hall for Cornwall, Truro, in Autumn 2021.

A new musical based on the true story of the Cornish singing sensations behind the 2019 hit film, Fisherman’s Friends will reopen the Cornwall venue after a period of closure for a serious renovation.

The musical sees a group of fisherman come together to sing the traditional sea shanties and working songs that they have sung for generations, just to raise a bit of money for charity. Nobody expected their story to end on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury! Featuring shanties including “Keep Haulin'”, “Nelson’s Blood”, “No Hopers Jokers & Rogues”, “Sweet Maid of Madeira” and many more, it’s a show about friendship, community and tradition.

Fisherman’s Friends: The Musical will be directed by James Grieve and is written by Brad Birch, with design by Lucy Osborne and musical supervision from David White.
