News: Simon Callow lends his voice to world premiere DIY musical Saving Christmas

A world premiere DIY musical Saving Christmas has been announced, featuring the voice of Simon Callow and starring YOU! A magical solo festive musical, Saving Christmas can be performed by anyone, of any age and in any location.

The project features a story and book by Steven Dexter and Elliot Davis, with music by Jimmy Jewell and lyrics by Elliot Davis. The concept is by Dexter, with orchestration and music production by Joe Hood.

Callow lends his voice to Santa Claus, and the musical features guide vocal tracks by West End stars Luke Bayer (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie) and Kayleigh McKnight (Bend It Like Beckham).

If you’ve ever wanted to star in your own musical, now is your chance! Or, Saving Christmas makes the perfect lockdown present for a stagey friend. An exclusive 20-minute musical, you can share the limelight with West End and film star Callow, and enjoy a sensational Christmas story.
When Santa and his elves get ill on Christmas Eve with a dose of flu, which threats the delivery of presents around the world, Santa calls on his computer-geek child, Santa Junior, known as SJ, to step up and save Christmas. But will SJ crack the code to access Santa’s sleigh and deliver billions of presents on time?

Saving Christmas is produced by British Youth Music Theatre, the leading national musical theatre organisation for young people, and can be ordered from 19 November and downloaded online from 1 December. You will receive a script, a score, music tracks recorded in two keys and guide vocals, plus a show poster and associated materials.
