Watch the cast of Matilda the Musical perform “When I Grow Up” from the show, ahead of its reopening in the West End on 16 September at the Cambridge Theatre.
The company unite in the rehearsal room to sing, along with the announcement that the show will extend to 29 May 2022.
Additionally, to celebrate Roald Dahl Story Day on 13 September, Landi Oshinowo (Mrs Phelps) is set to read an extract from the original story Matilda, which will be available to watch from Monday on the Puffin Books YouTube Channel.
Matilda the Musical will as feature as part of this year’s West End Live 2021 on 18 to 19 September at Trafalgar Square.
Written by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and developed and directed by Matthew Warchus, the production is designed by Rob Howell, with choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations, additional music and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, sound by Simon Baker and the special effects and illusions are by Paul Kieve.
Matilda The Musical is the story of an extraordinary little girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her own destiny.
