News: Stars announced for Footloose the Musical UK tour

After two critically-acclaimed tours, smash-hit Footloose the Musical returns to stages across the country!

The production was postponed in 2020 due to the pandemic, but is now set to reopen at the Theatre Royal Plymouth in February 2022, before visiting venues throughout the UK for an extensive tour.

Joining the previously announced Darren Day as Reverend Moore and will be Dancing on Ice winner Jake Quickenden, who first arrived on our screens in The X Factor in 2012, followed by Big Brothers Bit On The Side and I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

He has most recently been seen in hit TV show Hollyoaks and has appeared in stage productions including Peter Pan at Blackpool Opera House, plus Dreamboys and Hair the Musical.

Darren Day has extensive theatre credits, including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Summer Holiday, Copacabana and Grease, plus many more.

Footloose is the popular musical story that follows city boy Ren, who thinks life is bad enough when he’s forced to move to a rural backwater in America. But his world comes to a standstill when he arrives at Bomont to find dancing and rock music are banned. Taking matters into his own hands, soon Ren has all hell breaking loose and the whole town on its feet.

Based on the 1980s screen sensation which took the world by storm, the musical production sizzles with spirit, fun and the best in UK musical talent. With cutting edge modern choreography, enjoy classic 80s hits including “Holding Out for a Hero”, “Almost Paradise”, “Let’s Hear it for the Boy” and, of course, “Footloose”.

This production is presented by Selladoor Productions and Runaway Entertainment, with casting by Debbie O’Brien, direction by Racky Plews, choreography from Matt Cole, musical supervision by Mark Crossland and design by Sara Perks, as well as lighting design by Chris Davey and sound design by Chris Whybrow.

Further casting will be announced soon.
