An international creative team are developing a brand new, original musical based on Lennon and McCartney’s song catalogue. She Loves You will have its world premiere in Denmark, March 2022, before embarking on a Scandinavian tour.
Presented by Danish producer Mikkel Rønnow and Nordic Musical Partners, the production is set to open at the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, starring Danish singer and actress Maria Lucia, plus 24 musical performers.
Featuring Danish dialogue and English-language songs, the show will then transfer to the Musikhuset in Aarhus before transferring to Sweden, Norway and Iceland, with worldwide productions in the pipeline.
With an original book, She Loves You revolves around a modern family in a complex and contemporary journey with love, children, careers and the ultimate love that flourishes in later life.
In collaboration with Sony Music Publishing Scandinavia, the production is set to feature more than 40 of John Lennon and Paul McCartney’s beloved hits from their time in The Beatles, including “Let It Be”, “She Loves You”, “Blackbird”, “A Hard Day’s Night”, “With a Little Help From My Friends”, “Help!”, “The Long and Winding Road” and “Across the Universe”, plus many more.
She Loves You will directed by multi award-winning British theatre director Thom Southerland, who also co-wrote the book alongside Shaun McKenna, and will feature adaptation and translation by Jokum Rohde, orchestrations by Steve Sidwell, musical supervision by Mikkel Rønnow, set design by Morgan Large, choreography by Nick Winston, lighting design by Tim Mitchell and sound design by Tim Høyer.
