News: Scarborough’s Stephen Joseph Theatre announces shows for 2021

Scarborough’s Stephen Joseph Theatre joins the latest list of venues announcing a season of shows for 2021. The theatre’s roster includes three world premieres, plus Laura Wade’s award-winning Home I’m Darling, which played to packed out houses at London’s National Theatre.

Opening on 4 June, the venue opens with a new show from Alan Ayckbourn, The Girl Next Door, followed by Laura Wade’s comedy, in a co-production with Keswick’s  Theatre by the Lake and the Octagon Theatre Bolton.

Further shows announced include an adaptation of Benjamin Myers’ best-selling book The Offing, which is a co-production between Live Theatre, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, plus a Christmas adaptation of Jack and the Beanstalk by Nick Lane.

A full list of shows include The Girl Next Door from 4 June to 3 July, written and directed by Ayckbourn, Home I’m Darling from 9 July to 14 August, directed by Liz Stevenson, The Offing from 14 to 30 October, adapted by Janice Okoh and directed by Paul Robinson, Jack and the Beanstalk from 2 to 31 December, in a new version by Nick Lane, directed by Paul Robinson and music and lyrics by Simon Slater.
