News: Ramin Karimloo and Nadim Naaman to star in Rumi: The Musical in the West End

West End and Broadway star Ramin Karimloo and co-composer Nadim Naaman are set to head up the cast for the West End premiere of Rumi: The Musical. The show will play limited performances at the London Coliseum.

The musical follows Naaman and Dana Al Fardan’s Broken Wings, which premiered in the West End at the Theatre Royal Haymarket before touring the Middle East. The pair reunite for this second musical.

Rumi: The Musical is based on a story about the 13th century philosopher and poet Rumi by Evren Sharma, and will premiere at the London Coliseum on 23 and 24 November.

Cast includes Ramin Karimloo as Shams Tabrizi, Nadim Naaman as Rumi, Casey Al-Shaqsy as Kimya and Soophia Foroughi as Kara. All performers are from Middle Eastern, North African and South Asian heritage, with the show also featuring a 25+ piece orchestra, conducted by Joe Davison and featuring vocal arrangements by Nikki Davison.

Produced by Ali MatarRumi will be directed by Bronagh Lagan, with choreography by Anjali Mehra and Middle Eastern musical supervision by Maias Alyamani.
