News: Shakespeare’s Globe Announces Summer Season 2024

Shakespeare’s Globe has announced its upcoming summer season for 2024. With many Shakespeare productions, a new play and a wealth of talented creatives, it is set to be a very exciting season.

Much Ado About Nothing kicks off the season on 25th April – 24th August, with Ekow Quartey and Amalia Vitale as Benedick and Beatrice. Directed by Associate Artistic Director Sean Holmes.

From 9th May, Richard III will run, with Artistic Director Michelle Terry to play the eponymous anti-hero under the direction of Elle While.

Continuing the season, The Taming of the Shrew will run from the 6th June – transforming the Globe into a carnival, a bilingual production of Anthony and Cleopatra from the 4th August and The Comedy Of Errors from the 21st August.

A new play will be featured this year, Princess Essex, written by and starring Anne Odeke and directed by Robin Belfield. Bringing the summer season to a close, this empowering comedy is based on the true story of Princess Dinubolu, the first woman of colour to enter a beauty pageant in the UK.

Rough Magic runs from 20th July – 24th August and is set to be a supernaturally silly adventure for the family.
