News: Next To Normal Standbys Announced

Next to Normal is transferring to London’s West End this summer, opening at the Wyndham Theatre on Tuesday 18^th June. Today (21^st May) the standbys for the production have been announced.

Carolyn Maitland (Woman in White, Jersey Boys) joins the company as standby Diana, having previously performed this role during the Donmar Warehouse season, alongside new cast members Ben Heathcote (The Beautiful Game, Fame) as standby Dan / Dr. Madden / Dr. Fine, Lizzy Parker (Heathers: The Musical) as standby Natalie and Jake Rynolds (Grease, Sunshine on Leith) as standby Gabe / Henry.

They join the previously announced cast who are returning to their celebrated roles, Caissie Levy (Frozen, Caroline or Change, Leopoldstadt) as Diana Goodman, Jamie Parker (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, The Crown) as Dan Goodman, Jack Wolfe (Shadow and Bone) as Gabe Goodman, Eleanor Worthington-Cox (Jerusalem, Matilda The Musical) as Natalie Goodman, Trevor Dion Nicholas (Aladdin, Hamilton) as Dr. Madden / Dr. Fine and Jack Ofrecio (The Merry Wives Of Windsor) as Henry.

The production is transferring to the West End following its critically acclaimed UK premiere run at Donmar Warehouse, selling every seat at every performance across the season. Caissie Levy, Jack Wolfe and Eleanor Worthington-Cox were all nominated for their Donmar Warehouse performances at the 2024 Olivier Awards in addition to the show’s ‘Best New Musical’ nomination.

When the landmark musical debuted on Broadway in 2010 the production went on to win three Tony Awards, including Best Original Score, as well as the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, one of only 10 musicals in history to receive the prestigious honour.

Next To Normal is an intimate exploration of family and illness, loss and grief. At its heart is Diana Goodman, a suburban wife and mother living with bipolar disorder and haunted by her past. Outgoing Donmar Artistic Director Michael Longhurst directs this powerful rock musical.

Next To Normal’s creative team is led by Tony, Emmy and Grammy Award-winning composer Tom Kitt and Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning writer Brian Yorkey.
