News: New West End Cast For The Play That Goes Wrong

The Play That Goes Wrong, the Olivier and Tony Award-winning smash hit, which this year celebrates its 10 year anniversary in the West End, announces a brand new cast at the Duchess Theatre in London, and a new booking period until Sunday 4 May 2025.

The new cast, many of whom are making their West End debuts, are:  Jordan Akkaya as Trevor, Daniel Anthony as Dennis, Joe Bolland as Jonathan, Daniel Fraser as Chris, Billie Hamer as Annie, Owen Jenkins as Robert, Jay Olpin as Max and Hannah Sinclair Robinson as Sandra.  The understudies are:  Alex Bird, Munashe Chirisa, Colm Gleeson, Dumile Sibanda and Alice Stokoe.  Their first performance is on Tuesday 9 April 2024.

Jordan Akkaya trained at ALRA North (The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts). His credits include The Family Pile (ITV), Coronation Street (ITV), Hollyoaks (Channel 4) and many more. He will be making his West End debut this year in The Play That Goes Wrong.

Daniel Anthony began performing at an early age, starring as one of the first Young Simba’s in the theatre adaptation of The Lion King. Since then he has appeared in many radio, film and television roles. This isn’t Danny’s first stint in a goes wrong show, he was also a part of Magic Goes Wrong which toured the UK in 2021.

Joe Bolland trained at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. His television credits include Grace (ITV), Shetland (TV), Sherwood (BBC) and many more. He has also been in Choose Or Die on Netflix and had an extensive list of theatre credits.

Daniel Fraser trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama. Most recently his theatre credits include The Mousetrap, Wolf Hall and Bring up the Bodies. His television credits include Grantchester, The Crown, Doctors and Holby City. He has also featured in films and is one half of award-winning comedy duo ‘Maris Piper’.

Billie Hamer trained at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts and Rose Bruford College. Her theatre credits include Wishmas and Ghostbusters with Secret Cinema, White Lillies (Liverpool Everyman) plus many more. Billie will be making her West End debut in this production.

Owen Jenkins trained at Oxford School of Drama. His theatre credits include Doctor Who: Time Fracture (Immersive Everywhere/BBC), David Walliams First Hippo on the Moon (International Tour), Enemy of the People (UK Tour) and many more theatre credits. He is also a director, writer and voice over artist. He will be making his West End debut in The Play That Goes Wrong.

Jay Olpin trained at Manchester School of Theatre. His credits include Steve in Mind Mangler: Member of the Tragic Circle (Michief Worldwide/Virgin Cruises), Understudy in Magic Goes Wrong (UK and Ireland Tour), Nathan in The Full Monty (UK and Ireland Tour) plus many more theatre credits.

Hannah Sinclair Robinson trained at East 15 Acting School and Bath Spa University. Her work in theatre include Grete in Metamorphosis on the 2023 UK Tour for Frantic Assembly, Bianca in Othello on the 2022 UK Tour for Frantic Assembly, Mrs Shears/Mrs Gascoyne in The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time on the 2021/22 UK and Ireland Tour for NTP, as well as many more. Her TV credits include Doctors, Eastenders, Four Weddings and a Funeral and Killer Cops.

The Play That Goes Wrong opened at the Duchess Theatre in September 2014, and this year celebrates its 10th year in the West End.  The production shows no signs of slowing down since its first performance at The Old Red Lion with only four paying customers.   Its achievements to date include a Whatsonstage Award and an Olivier Award for best new comedy and a Tony Award for the Broadway transfer.

The Play That Goes Wrong is co-written by Mischief company members Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields and is directed by Mark Bell, with set designs by Nigel Hook, costumes by Roberto Surace, lighting by Ric Mountjoy, original music by Rob Falconer, sound design by Andy Johnson, the associate director is Amy Milburn  and the assistant director is Anna Marshall. The Play That Goes Wrong is produced in the West End by Kenny Wax Ltd and Stage Presence Ltd.
