After playing the role in the West End, Louise Redknapp is set to reprise her role as Violet Newstead in the new UK tour of Dolly Parton’s smash-hit 9 to 5 the Musical.
The musical is set to open at King’s Theatre, Glasgow on 24 August 2021, before embarking on a UK-wide tour.
Redknapp is set to appear at limited venues with a full tour schedule and casting announced soon. Her credits include the national tour of Cabaret, plus reaching the final of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2016.
9 to 5 the Musical features a book by the film’s original screenwriter Patricia Resnick, with an original Oscar, Grammy and Tony award-nominated score by pop icon Dolly Parton.
It tells the story of three women, Doralee, Violet and Judy – three workmates pushed to boiling point by their sexist and egotistical boss. Concocting a plan to kidnap and turn the tables on their despicable supervisor, will the girls manage to reform their office, or will events unravel when the CEO pays an unexpected visit?
Inspired by the cult film this hilarious new West End production is about teaming up, standing up and taking care of business!
Creative team includes director Jeff Calhoun and choreographer Lisa Stevens, with design by Tom Rogers, lighting design by Howard Hudson, musical supervision, arrangements and orchestrations by Mark Crossland, musical direction by Andrew Hilton and casting by Victoria Roe.
