Previously announced West End transfer of Southwark Playhouse’s The Last Five Years is set to extend its season, but will now play at the Garrick Theatre, rather than the Vaudeville.
The musical will open on 23 September and is set to run until 17 October.
The Last Five Years is Jason Robert Brown’s Drama Desk Award-winning show, with this version directed by Jonathan O’Boyle, starring Molly Lynch and Oli Higginson as Cathy and Jamie.
Nominated for eight Offie Awards, this production marks the first time the musical has played a significant run in the West End.
An emotionally powerful and intimate story about two New Yorkers who fall in and out of love over the course of five years, the musical takes on a unique structure that sees struggling actor Cathy tell her story in reverse, and successful writer Jamie tell his story from the start. The pair only meet once in the middle.
This production also features the actors playing piano to add a new narrative dimension to the story, as well as accompaniment from a four-piece band.
Creatives include choreographer Sam Spencer-Lane, set and costume designer Lee Newby, lighting designer Jamie Platt and sound designer Adam Fisher, as well as musical director Leo Munby and casting by Jane Deitch.
