It has been announced that Lambert Jackson Productions will release a filmed version of Mark Schoenfeld and Barri McPherson’s BKLYN – The Musical, available on stream.theatre from 22 March to 4 April.
The production, filmed at the Ugly Duck space, is directed by Dean Johnson (First Date) and stars Sejal Keshwala (Bend It Like Beckham the Musical) as Faith, Emma Kingston (The Last Five Years) as Brooklyn, The X Factor and The Voice UK’s Newtion Matthews as Street Singer, Jamie Muscato (Heathers the Musical) as Taylor and Marisha Wallace (Dreamgirls, Hairspray) as Paradice, with musical direction from Leo Munby and video editing by Sam Diaz. Munby will be joined by Richie Garrison on saxophone and Georgina Lloyd-Owen on cello.
BKLYN – The Musical sees a troupe of incredibly talented street performers share stories from their lives. Then there is the story of a young girl who comes to the US to find the father she never knew. Together their stories create a real urban fairy-tale that is both touching and inspiring.
Jamie Lambert and Eliza Jackson said, “It has been incredibly exciting, and of course extremely challenging, to create theatre and explore new ways to share our work over the last year, and we are incredibly proud of what we have produced. We cannot wait for audiences to see our latest offering, our most ambitious to date, it really is spectacular. We’d like to thank the licensing team, cast, creatives and crew for all their work and bravery in making this production happen. BKLYN is a show for all the dreamers out there, and we felt it was the perfect time to give people that story.”
