News: Jodie Comer to make West End debut in Prima Facie

Emmy and BAFTA-winning actress Jodie Comer is set to make her West End debut in Suzie Miller’s award-winning play Prima Facie, which also makes its UK premiere.

Performances will begin on Friday 15 April 2022 at the Harold Pinter Theatre and will play for a nine-week season.

Best-known for her roles in BBC’s Killing Eve and Doctor Foster, Jodie Comer will take on the role of Tessa in this gripping, one-person play which takes us to where emotion and experience collide with the rules of the game.

Directed by Justin Martin, Prima Facie follows Tessa, a young, brilliant barrister who loves to win. She has worked her way up from working class origins to be at the top of her game; prosecuting; cross examining and lighting up the shadows of doubt in any case. An unexpected event forces her to confront the lines where the patriarchal power of the law, burden of proof and morals diverge.

The play is written by Suzie Miller, a contemporary international playwright and screenwriter, who has won multiple prestigious awards. Prima Facie premiered in 2019 at the Griffin Theatre, winning the 2020 Australian Writers’ Guild Award for Drama; the 2020 David Williamson Award for Outstanding Theatre Writing; and the 2020 Major Australian Writers’ Guild Award across all categories of theatre, film, and television.
