Olivier Award-nominee Rachel Tucker (Come From Away, Wicked) and Lewis Cornay (The Book of Mormon) are set to star in the world premiere of an updated new version of Andrew Lippa’s John & Jen.

A first listen to a medley from the show has been revealed.

The musical is updated by the award-winning composer behind The Addams Family, Big Fish and The Wild Party, plus Tom Greenwald, featuring new orchestrations by Jason Robert Brown and Lippa.

The show plays at Southwark Playhouse from 28 July to 21 August.

1985. John and Jen, brother and sister, born seven years apart, grow up together, totally inseparable. Jen makes a “forever pact” with her little brother to always protect him against anything and anyone, including their own dad.

2005. Jen, alone in Canada with her baby boy whom she has named John, a living memorial to the brother she failed to protect.

The beautiful and haunting score emotionally captures the zeitgeist of contemporary America.

Creative team for John & Jen includes direction from Guy Retallack, musical supervision by Michael Bradley and musical direction from Bob Broad, as well as scenic and costume design by Natalie Johnson, sound design by Andrew Johnson, production management by Matt Harper, stage management by Robyn-Amber Manners and casting by Leon Kay Casting. It is produced by Bray Productions.
