It has been announced that Sir Derek Jacobi will join Sam Tutty and Emily Redpath in the filmed theatre production of Romeo and Juliet, which is available to stream online from 13 to 20 February 2021. A portion of the proceeds will go toward Acting For Others.
Starring Tutty (Dear Evan Hansen) as Romeo and Redpath as Juliet, Jacobi will join as the Narrator. The production utilises cutting-edge new technology which allows the show to be filmed under the current restrictions and regulations.
Jacobi is a two-time Olivier Award-winner, plus Tony and Evening Standard Award-winner, and has starred in the RSC’s Cyrano de Bergerac and Twelfth Night, as well as the RSC’s Much Ado About Nothing. He has starred in multiple films and television series’ and is a household name.
Further cast include Brandon Bassir as Mercutio, Daniel Bowerbank as Benvolio, Jonny Labey as Paris, Sylvester Akinrolabu as Tybalt, Helen Anker as Capulet, Marc Ozall as Montague, Lucy Tregear as Nurse, Vinta Morgan as Friar, Jessica Murrain as Prince, Timmy Driscoll as Sam, Tats Nyazika as Gregory, Iskandar Eton as Abe and Ollie Tennant as Balthasar.
Romeo & Juliet is directed by Nick Evans, with assistant direction by Gwenan Bain, editing by Ryan Metcalfe, production design by Jamie Osborne for Preevue, costume design by Natasha Bowles, original music by Sam Dinley, sound design by Olly Steel, lighting design by Elliot Smith, visual effects by Preevue, production management by Gary Beestone and casting by Jim Arnold CDG.
