News: Casting announced for MTFestUK with multi-award winning West End stars

A host of international and West End stars join the casts of Paul Taylor-Mills’ MTFestUK, playing a short live run at The Turbine Theatre before embarking on a digital tour.

Celebrating new musical theatre writing, the festival plays at the Battersea venue from 17 to 29 May, before going online from 31 May to 4 July.

Featuring a spectacular company of international stars, as well as Tony and Olivier Award-winners, this year’s season is set to be 2021’s most unmissable event.

Full line-up includes Tori Allen-Martin, Luke Bayer, Jenna Boyd Alex Cardall, Jessica Cervi, Chris Chung, Matthew Croke, Allie Daniel, Cory English, Aminita Francis, Scott Garnham, Tiffany Graves, Beth Hinton-Lever, Aimee Hodnett, Jazz Jenkins, Nadine-Rose Johnson, Reuben Joseph, Eleanor Kane, Caroline Kay, Emma Kingston, Gemma Knight Jones, Melanie La Barrie, Marie Lawrence, Simon Lipkin, Andrew Lippa, Nathan Lorainey-Dineen, Tim Mahendran, Ako Mitchell, Kyran Mitchell-Nanton, Phoebe Panaretos, Bryce Pinkham, Sharon Rose, Robert Saunders, Cleve September, Sharon Sexton, Robin Simões da Silva, Nicola Sloane, Jodie Steele, Scarlett Strallen, Sebastian Torkia, Paul Thornley and Rebecca Trehearn.

Touring dates are: Norwich Theatre Royal, The Belgrade Theatre, Coventry and Birmingham Hippodrome from Monday 31 May to Sunday 6 June; Mayflower Theatre, Southampton and the Mercury Theatre, Colchester from Monday 7 June to Sunday 13 June; Curve Theatre, Leicester and Dundee Repertory Theatre from Monday 14 June to Sunday 20 June; New Wolsey Theatre and Theatre Clwyd from Monday 21 June to Sunday 27 June and Royal & Derngate, Northampton, Sheffield Theatres and The Lowry, Salford from Monday 28 June to Sunday 4 July.

Shows in the line-up include a diverse selection of eight new musicals: Far From Heaven, #50days, The Man In the Ceiling, Millennials, HouseFire, Cake, Daisy and Tony! (A Tony Blair Rock Opera).

Creative team includes Tasha Taylor-Johnson, Morgan Lloyd Malcolm, Jack McManus, Drew McOnie, Caroline KayMatt White, Thabo Stuck, Scott Frankel and Poppy Burton Morgan. 

Far From Heaven features book by Richard Greenberg, music by Scott Frankel, lyrics by Michael Korie, direction from Matthew White and musical direction from Alex Parker.

Cast includes Cory English, Tiffany Graves, Aimee Hodnett, Melanie La Barrie, Ako Mitchell, Bryce Pinkham, Scarlett Strallen and Rebecca Trehearn.

With a score both jazz-infused and hauntingly lyrical, Far From Heaven is a story of romance, betrayal, and intolerance, as a woman grapples with her identity in a society on the verge of upheaval.

#50Days is created and written by Thabo Stuck, with direction from Ajjaz Awad and musical direction from Amiir Salem.

Cast includes Aminita Francis, Nadine-Rose Johnson, Reuben Joseph, Kyran Mitchell-Nanton, Robert Saunders and Cleve September.

The show is a Grime Musical that tells the story of the period when the very foundations of England were shattered. It is December 1641 and King Charles is about to be formally challenged by a handful of MPs and radical commoners, who share the belief that ALL men are born equal. In a world ruled by men, who are the women in this story? What are they fighting for?
