Cast has been announced for the return of Hope Mill Theatre’s acclaimed production of musical RENT. Six new members will join the cast, who return to the production following a sold-out digital run.
RENT will run at the Manchester venue from 6 August to 19 September 2021.
New cast includes Luke Bayer (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie) as Mark, Michael Ahomka-Lindsay in his professional debut as Benny and Iona Fraser (Sister Act), plus Alison Driver, Joe Foster, Karl Lankester in their professional stage debuts.
They join returning cast members Tom Francis as Roger, Jocasta Almgill as Joanne, Dom Hartley-Harris as Collins, Millie O’Connell as Maureen, Maiya Quansah-Breed as Mimi, Alex Thomas-Smith as Angel and Isaac Hesketh.
This production of RENT is directed by Luke Sheppard (& Juliet) and features music, lyrics, and a book by Jonathan Larson. Based on Puccini’s opera La Bohème, it tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists living, loving and working in Manhattan’s East Village during the HIV/AIDS crisis.
Featuring hit songs such as “Rent”, “Without You”, “La Vie La Bohème” and the iconic “Seasons of Love”, RENT has choreography by Tom Jackson Greaves, musical supervision by Katy Richardson, set and costume design by David Woodhead, lighting design by Howard Hudson, sound design by Paul Gatehouse, projection design by George Reeve, musical direction by Chris Poon, assistant direction by Priya Patel Appleby and casting by Pearson Casting.
